My grandfather Hasdrubal used
to say: "The Great Game enables me to
understand why I fall and to foresee when I rise
again."
Old farmers knew how to
forecast the brief sunny period that gives the
opportunity to dry and to garner the fruit of a year
of efforts.
My grandfather used to excel
in doing it, commanding respect from the whole valley.
They were all watching him
through binoculars, plowing when he was plowing,
harvesting when he was harvesting, forgiving him when
he was harnessing only to see them aping him.
Men, nowadays, do not care
about Nature, they build houses in areas liable to
flooding or to avalanches, on top of old garbage
dumps...
So negotiate one's destiny
makes them roar with laughter...
